Tien jaar na zijn pensionering uit de regering moet kolonel Steve Austin opnieuw samenwerken met Jaime Sommers om een terroristische groepering tegen te houden. Complicerende zaken voor Austin zijn zijn vervreemde zoon Michael, die worstelt voor de acceptatie van zijn vader terwijl hij afstudeert aan de vliegschool, en Jaime, die met haar en Steve's verleden moet leren omgaan. Wanneer Michael ernstig gewond raakt bij een ongeval, moet Steve dezelfde beslissing nemen over het uitrusten van hem met bionica als hij jaren geleden met Jaime moest nemen na haar ongeval.
