Deze hilarische comedy, geschreven en geregisseerd door Ricky Gervais en Matthew Robinson, speelt zich af in een alternatieve werkelijkheid waar liegen niet bestaat. Letterlijk iedereen - zelfs politici en reclamejongens - vertellen er de waarheid (en niets dan de waarheid). Maar plotseling ontdekt superloser Mark (Gervais) de leugen en hij stelt vast dat oneerlijk zijn wel degelijk voordelen heeft. In een wereld waar elk woord als absolute waarheid wordt beschouwd, slaagt Mark erin om zich een weg naar roem en rijkdom te liegen. Wanneer de mensen zijn leugens echter als evangelie beginnen te beschouwen, loopt de boel binnen de kortste keren uit de hand. Maar kan hij het hart veroveren van de vrouw die hij liefheeft?
